Contest Winner

I'm a bit of a sucker, I'll admit it.  I love a good raffle and rarely hesitate to enter my name and address for a chance to win something cool.  A couple weeks ago, my favorite restaurant La Tasca was running a promotion for a ten dollar gift card via a facebook contest.  Basically, they cut a paste a picture of sangria onto a picture of a Spanish scene and you had to tell them how many you saw.  Let's be real, if you have the IQ of a doorknob, you could win this thing.

Ok, maybe not so much sangria
as orange rectangles ;)
Finally, my doorknob IQ paid off!  I was the chosen winner for the second day of the contest :)  What's even better is that I told Alex about the contest and told him to enter on the third and final day and he won the third day!  Yaaaaay, tapas for all!  The ten dollar gift card barely put a debt in our bill but as always the food was delicious and I went away fat and happy.

It was such a good thing that I went running with my friend Jenny that morning.  It was a beautiful 4.6 miles around Burke Lake Park and the weather was perfect once we warmed up.  Some guy on the trail came up behind us and said "Come on ladies, sprint all out for ten seconds!"  I immediately used pregnant Jenny as a reason not to follow his command.  Jenny may have done it had it not been for me ;)  She's a personal trainer and teaches boot camp classes a million times a week.  She's pretty amazing.

Kara?
The next day I was supposed to get up and go to Burke Lake again with the Ridge Runners but I overslept and decided to run up and down Dale Boulevard.  I should have traded in that few extra minutes of sleep for running around Burke Lake.  Instead of a beautiful wooded trail with plenty of shade, I was running on the far more hilly road and sucking exhaust while the sun beat down on me.  I suppose I thought it was going to be cold like the morning before so I put on a long sleeve tech shirt and tights.  Wrong choice.  I was sooo hot.  I literally wanted to die.  Somehow I managed not to die and actually ran seven miles.

Overall, it was a really great weekend!

Hi October

So I can't believe that it is October!  I love it and hate it all at once.  I have been busy keeping up with life in general but have still been able to complete my 15k training.  I think I ran four miles the other day.  I only say that because my Nike+ has been MIA.  Surprisingly I made this discovery in my make-up bag:
I have no idea why I stuck it in there; it makes no sense at all.  I'm very glad to have it back :)  Today I met up with the Lake Ridge Runners at Burke Lake Park.  There was an organized event and for the majority of the run, we were running through on-coming race traffic.  It was enough to keep me entertained and the miles seemed to fly by.  In total, I ran 6.5 miles and when I finished, I felt like I could have done more :)  I have three miles scheduled for tomorrow....can't wait!

Have you misplaced something in the most unlikely spot?

Successful Shopping Trip in my Closet!

Hello Everyone!  I had a wonderful and pleasant surprise this weekend.  I got some things that I had ordered online on Saturday :)  As per my silly girl ways, I ordered a dress that was on clearance but not in my size.  Truly I wanted the 14 but all they had was a 12.  I decided to go for it anyway.  I was very satisfied to see that the dress fit!!  So that gave me another idea....

I decided to start trying on the treasure trove of clothing that were in my drawers.  All the clothing that I have been storing for "someday" when I lost the weight and could fit into them again.  Guess what today is.....SOMEDAY!  Woo me!

And now for some embarrassing details....The pants were something that I purchased while down at FLETC.  My child was far away from me and I thought I could keep the white clean.  And so I did.  I felt that these would be an OK choice for work today and since they fit again, I was more than happy to wear them!  Within thirty minutes of being at work, I dropped my half-eaten plum in my lap :(  I'm a mother (and a clumsy one at that), I should have known better.  Another embarrassing detail:  That shirt has been sitting in my drawer with tags and size label still on it for approximately two years.  I'm awesome.

Anyway, here's a quick run down of my weekend:   Burke Lake Park, farmer's market, and scrapbooking!

And that's what a perfect weekend looks like.

What's your perfect weekend?
